If you missed this event on May 4th at Canyon Gate Country Club, you missed a lot of fun! It was an amazing fundraiser for Wish Upon A Wedding with a “Kentucky Derby” theme created by Shelly Sampson. Las Vegas weddings are planned at The Bridal Spectacular, come meet Memory Lane at the next show.

 A big thanks to all the Las Vegas Wedding Network professionals who came out last week to support the local chapter of Wish Upon A Wedding.  The “Kentucky Derby” themed event held at Canyon Gate Country Club was a smashing success with almost 80 people in attendance.  From the Derby hat contest to the “horse race”  and sipping mint juleps around the pool, the Las Vegas Wedding Network committee members and sponsors out did  themselves on this one!

Special Thanks to the following people:

Canyon Gate Country Club and Shelley Sampson for hosting the event and for spearheading the theme and special events of the night. The food fit the theme perfectly and was enjoyed by all the guests.

Faith Chapin of Faithfully Yours for hours of work collecting items for the Chinese raffle and Silent Auction.

Gabriel Ortiz of  All Events Disc Jockey’s  for providing music and announcing the horse race.

Special thanks to the Bridal Spectacular team for the work leading up to the event and for purchasing the Ipad for the raffle.  The winner was   Kevin Cordova of DJ’s For You. Thanks to Julie Pickrell and Sue Gestring for running registration, selling raffles and being so busy you did not even get to sample the awesome food.

Erin Ward from Hard Rock Cafe was the winner of the Derby Hat contest, but ladies you all outdid yourselves!

Thanks to Brittney Belanger – Cravin’ Cake Bakery for the delicious desserts.

With all the contributions and hard work by everyone, we were able to raise over $1700 for Wish Upon A Wedding.  Thanks to everyone for the items they donated to help raise this money.

On March 2nd, the Las Vegas Wedding Network, with 65 wedding professionals in attendance, was treated to a Seminar that explained Susan Southerlands secret formula for determining what type of personality the bride you are marketing to might have.  

Is the bride you are talking to a Savvy Bride, a Visionary Bride, a Functional Bride or a Bewildered Bride?  Susan will soon be releasing a book that will share more about each of these personality types so you can better help them plan their wedding details.  The event was sponsored by Bridal Spectacular and Perfect Wedding Guide.  Many other wedding professionals were instrumental in the success of the evening. Las Vegas Wedding Professionals Listen Intently to Personality Seminar

TPC Golf Club was the host for the January meeting of the Las Vegas Wedding Network.

A diverse panel of Las Vegas wedding professionals shared their personal and company perspective, as well as giving various reactions to the views of each other.

From the venue perspective, there was emphasis on “lead time” from vendors for any special needs. “No surprises, please…” Carrie Key  (Dragonridge Country Club) made it clear that, in the absence of a wedding planner, the venue has the lead responsibility in assimilating the various elements from photo, video, entertainers, as well as pre-event professionals, such as floral designers, bakers, and decorators.

She went on to note that when it comes to execution, the emcee (usually the DJ) is the point-person. Carrie goes so far as to have a duplicate timeline at the DJ console, so that any member of her staff can refer to it, if needed.

The other keywords for the discussion were: flexibility, cooperation and communication. Timelines tend to be guidelines, and need to be adjusted as an event unfolds. And the best timeline is one that is made to be reasonable, in advance, such that all ceremonial elements, meal service, and dancing can occur, smoothly, within the total time available.

Kevin Cordova’s DJ’s To You provided outstanding uplighting, surrounding the room, and created a beautifully crafted truss-lighting array, focused on the panelist table.
